FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Economists of several renowned research institutes expect German inflation to increase further this year, Bild reported in its Saturday edition.
Due to rising energy costs and higher wage agreements, the average inflation rate will rise slightly above last year's, Ifo's Kai Carstensen told the newspaper.
The president of Essen-based Rheinisch-Westfaelisches Institut fuer Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI), Christoph Schmidt, also told the daily that the average inflation rate 2008 could be higher than in 2007.
Last year, prices rose by 2.2 pct in Germany.
